2. Objective(s): Provide scientific basis and practices for selecting submerged tree species for planting target ensuring the success of reforestation in Truoi lake to combat landslide and reservoir sedimentation in rainy season and coping with climate change.

• Determine the list of species in the Truoi reservoir

• Select and supply seedlings for planting activities of submerged tree species serving protective afforestation, erosion and landslide control and effective use of submerged lands in Truoi reservoir.

• Provide materials for dry specimen collection and pictures of dried submerged plants for teaching and learning purposes.

• Identify technical sowing and planting some native species typical submerged.

3. Creativeness and innovativeness

The study has successfully planted and identified planting techniques of submerged trees in in Truoi reservoir in Phu Loc District, Thua Thien Hue province (Truoi reservoir is a semi-artificial lake, water level regulator for irrigation)

- A List of and the varieties of all hardwood freshwater submerged tree species that be planted in Truoi reservoir

- 1ha of planted submerged trees (400 trees alive) in the semi-submerged area of Truoi reservoir

6. Effects, transfer alternatives of research results and applicability:

Using the results of the research as a case study serving for the lecture of several courses "Plant Morphology and classification", "Forest Trees", "Biodiversity conservation", "Land Use Management", and references to other disciplines such as agroforestry, non-timber forest products, ecotourism ... for students in the field of Forestry, Forest resource Management in the Faculty of Forestry;

The model of the submerged trees species planted enriched Truoi reservoir habitats where tourists visit Truoi Reservoir and Truc Lam Bach Ma. It is also the field study where students of other faculties in Hue University, and is a visiting model for organizations and individuals wishing to develop semi-submerged tree.
