Through collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), the technical team at HUAF has successfully transferred expertise and equipment, resulting in the production of organic fertilizer derived from straw using the Circular Agricultural Method. This innovative approach has been implemented at the An Lo Agricultural Production Cooperative in Phong Hien commune, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province.
This environmentally sustainable product integrates mechanization into its production process, enhancing efficiency and reducing environmental impact. Farmers in Phong Dien district and throughout Thua Thien Hue province have embraced this product, utilizing it in their agricultural practices.
Straw is mixed by equipment during the production of organic fertilizer
Prof. Dr. Hoang Thi Thai Hoa, a member of HUAF's technical team and recipient of the prestigious 2023 Kovalevskaia Award for her contributions to science and technology, highlights the benefits of this organic fertilizer innovation. By employing biotechnology and mechanized production techniques, composting time is significantly reduced to just 45-60 days, halving the duration compared to traditional manual methods. This not only increases the quantity and quality of organic fertilizer but also fosters the development of organic agriculture, thereby boosting income for farmers while safeguarding the environment.
