The seminar was honored to welcome Dr. Itaru Matsushita – Director of the J.I Institute of Science (Japan), a leading expert in the field of chromatography with many years of experience in teaching and collaborating with universities in Japan. Representing HUAF were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Van – Vice Rector of the University, along with faculty members and students of HUAF and other units within Hue University.

Dr. Itaru Matsushita – Director of the J.I Institute of Science, delivering a presentation at the Seminar.
During the seminar, Dr. Matsushita introduced a newly developed chromatography system by the J.I Institute of Science, which has been highly evaluated for its usefulness in food science research and chemistry education. The new flash chromatography system enables easy implementation of linear gradient elution, with a major advantage being the ability to adjust solvent gradients by changing the size of solvent bottles.
In addition, the system applies an improved elution method in which solvents are introduced from the top of the column and drawn from the bottom. Unlike conventional flash chromatography systems that rely solely on top-down pressure, this innovative design helps maintain stable pressure at the top of the column even at increased flow rates, thereby optimizing sample separation efficiency and extending the lifespan of chromatography columns.
Throughout the two-day seminar, faculty members, researchers, and students from HUAF and other universities and institutes within Hue University participated enthusiastically, actively exchanging knowledge, sharing research experiences, and engaging in hands-on practice with the new equipment.
The seminar not only provided valuable specialized knowledge but also opened up opportunities to strengthen research collaboration among scientists, lecturers, and students across Hue University.
