The 3rd Animal Science and Veterinary Skills Competition 2026: Bridging Academic Learning and Professional Practice

To provide students with a meaningful academic platform, enhance professional knowledge and practical skills, and promote academic exchange, the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine at University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University (HUAF) organized the 3rd Animal Science and Veterinary Skills Competition 2026 on May 10, 2026. The event attracted enthusiastic participation from second- to fifth-year students majoring in Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine.
The competition was attended by Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thuan, Regional Technical Director for Central Vietnam of HaiD Company, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Dung, Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hai Quan and Dr. Tran Quang Vui, Vice Deans of the Faculty; faculty members, staff, and a large number of participating students.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Dung, Dean of the Faculty, highly appreciated the students' enthusiasm for learning, scientific inquiry, and professional skill development. He emphasized that the competition not only contributes to improving the quality of practice-oriented education but also reflects the University's commitment to creating a learning environment closely connected with industry practice and societal needs.

Representing HaiD Company, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thuan expressed his appreciation for the University's efforts in providing students with practical learning opportunities and reaffirmed the company's willingness to continue supporting educational activities that help develop high-quality human resources for the livestock and veterinary sectors.

The competition served as a valuable professional activity, enabling students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations, strengthen technical competencies, improve problem-solving skills, and develop professional working practices in animal science and veterinary medicine. It also provided an excellent opportunity for students to exchange experiences, foster teamwork, and deepen their passion for their chosen field.

Participants competed in a series of challenging and engaging events. In the Animal Science and Veterinary Knowledge Challenge, contestants answered specialized multiple-choice questions. The Animal Husbandry Skills round focused on practical tasks such as sex identification of one-day-old chicks and vaccine preparation and administration for poultry. The Animal Science and Veterinary in the Industry 4.0 Era round introduced digital transformation concepts through activities including livestock breed identification, online consultation, and disease diagnosis. In the Veterinary Clinical Skills round, students demonstrated essential practical competencies such as blood collection, blood smear preparation, necropsy procedures, and sample collection from the bursa of Fabricius, liver, and spleen of chickens.

Overview of the competition

In addition to the main competition, several interactive activities were organized for the audience, including quizzes about the University, the Faculty, and the event sponsor, as well as practical challenges such as syringe assembly and wound suturing. These activities created an energetic atmosphere while encouraging greater audience participation. All competition events were designed to reflect the practical requirements of the profession, helping students strengthen their technical expertise and enhance their career readiness.

The 3rd Animal Science and Veterinary Skills Competition 2026 concluded successfully in an enthusiastic and inspiring atmosphere. The event provided students with valuable opportunities to refine their professional skills, foster creativity, build confidence, and develop the competencies needed for their future careers in the livestock and veterinary sectors.
