Assoc.Prof.Dr Phung Thang Long, Vice rector of HUAF attended the transfer. The transfer of the first artificial reproduction of Siganus guttatus was hosted by PhD student Le Van Bao Duy who is the lecturer and his co-workers of the Fisheries faculty.
Currently, the artificial reproduction of Siganus guttatus is one of the biggest challenges for marine fish farming in Vietnam for many years. The main reason was said to be related to the quality of water, nutrient requirements, and the emergence of diseases.
This is the first time in our country where there is a process of artificial reproduction of Siganus guttatus with high competitiveness in the market, including the quality and price.
Because of the marine pollution,a decline in fishes has been ongoing for quite sometime. However, the success of reproduction has brought the initiative in raising fishes. Furthermore, farmers will no longer depend on fishes which were caught naturally.
At the delivery, the team of HUAF sold 4,000 fishes; in addition, the first breed for some householders in Phu Tan commune, Phu Vang district, Thua Thien Hue province; and 1000 breed for Center for Agricultural Extension, Forestry and Fisheries in Quang Tri province
