HUAF–Ritsumeikan University Student Exchange Program: Cultural Exchange and Hands-on Experiences in Hue

From August 20 to 25, 2026, the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University (HUAF), welcomed a delegation of lecturers and students from Ritsumeikan University, Japan, as part of the annual international student exchange program between the two universities.

During their six-day stay in Hue, students from the two universities participated in a wide range of activities combining cultural exchange, hands-on experiences, and opportunities to learn about local life and production.

The program took the delegation to several of Hue’s prominent cultural attractions, including the Hue Imperial City and Thien Mu Pagoda. The students also had the opportunity to visit and experience a variety of local production and business models, including Fideco, a traditional fish sauce production facility, Phu Thanh Cooperative, Van Cu rice noodle village, AEON Hue Shopping Mall, and Tam Giang Lagoon – Ngu My Thanh Fishing Village.

Through these field trips and hands-on activities, Ritsumeikan students gained a deeper understanding of Hue’s culture, cuisine, people, and way of life. At the same time, HUAF students had the opportunity to practice their foreign language skills, interact with international peers, and share the cultural heritage and beauty of their hometown with their Japanese friends.

On the morning of August 25, the delegation had a working session with HUAF before departing Hue and traveling to Da Nang International Airport.

Through the annual student exchange program, HUAF and Ritsumeikan University continue to strengthen their longstanding partnership in education and international exchange. More importantly, the program provided a meaningful platform for Vietnamese and Japanese students to meet and connect as friends, explore cultural differences, discover shared values, and build lasting connections beyond borders.
