Sharing the mechanism to encourage scientific research in universities in Vietnam is the main topic of the workshop held by University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University (HUAF) on December 26th, 2018. The workshop funded by the VLIR-IUC of Hue University and hosted by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Dinh Phung –Vice Rector of HUAF.

The workshop aimed to share experiences and propose solutions to (i) Organize laboratories for research and training (ii) Develop strong research groups (iii) Connect between research groups and international laboratories (iv) Transfer research results to commercial products (v) International publications to meet the new requirements of regulations on doctoral training, regulations of the council of titles of state professors and strengthen HUAF’s reputation.

Participants in the workshop included experts from Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, Can Tho University, Center for Science and Technology Transfer - Department of Science and Technology of Quang Tri Province, Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Hue University; and scientists, researchers, Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation of HUAF.

At the workshop, the experts presented topics related to incentive mechanisms and management mechanisms of scientific research activities in some units such as: Scientific research activities attached to international publications, technology transfer, creating commercial products, research university model associated with training (Research Based Education) at Can Tho University by Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong – Chairman of the council of Can Tho University; scientific research and technology transfer, building strong research groups, enhancing products commercialization as well as strengthening international publications at Vietnam Academy of Agriculture presented by Dr.Tran Hiep – Representative of Vietnam Academy of Agriculture; MSc. Dao Ngoc Hoang - Director of the Center for Applied Science and Technology - Department of Science and Technology of Quang Tri Province presented scientific research products and its commercialization.
