The outcomes showed that applying 7l bio-fertilizer WEHG and replacing 20% synthetic nitrogen fertilizer per hectare for variety of BT7 reached the best economical efficiency in ancient Alluvial soil Huong An, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province.
General information:
Project title: Study on applying bio-fertilizer WEGH and botanical insecticide PONGAM to produce safe rice towards VietGAP in Thua Thien Hue province
Code number: DHH2013-02-29
Coordinator: TRAN THI XUAN PHUONG
Implementing institution: Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry
Cooperating institution(s):
Cooperative Huong An, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province
Soil Science Department, Land Resources and the Environment Faculty, Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry
Genetic of AgricultureDepartment, Agricultural and Biological Science Applications Faculty, Can Tho University
Duration: from 01/12/2012 to 01/12/2014
2. Objective(s):
- To determine the appropriate dose in order to replace a portion of synthetic nitrogen fertilizer with bio-fertilizer WEHG in rice production.
- To determine the efficiency of a biotic product known as Pongam to control Rice Leaf Folder
3. Creativeness and innovativeness:
This is the first time to conduct the experiments for evaluating the efficiency of a biotic product extracted from Pongam Leaf to control Rice Leaf Folder in paddy rice. Also, there are only few studies finding the potential application of bio-fertilizer WEHG to reduce the use of synthetic nitrogen fertilizer in Vietnam in general and Central region, particularly in Thua Thien Hue province. Therefore, our project will bring creativeness and innovativeness in theory and practice for extension works and farmers.
4. Research results:
The outcomes showed that:
- Applying 7l bio-fertilizer WEHG and replacing 20% synthetic nitrogen fertilizer per hectare for variety of BT7 reached the best economical efficiency in ancient Alluvial soil Huong An, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province.
- The extracted product with concentration of 0.5% helped to reduce Rice Leaf Folder. The best treatment was found at 60.64 - 69.64% extracted concentration and three day after application. There was no significant difference between biotic product use and chemical insecticides such as Virtako 40 WG and Tungcydan 55EC in controlling the insect. The application of Pongam leaf extract remained the growth of paddy rice and helped to increase the yields. As result, this extract should be used to control Rice Leaf Folder as botanical insecticide in a safe rice production system.
5. Products:
- A research report
- A process of safe rice production towards VietGAP in Thua Thien Hue province.
- A scientific paper
