University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University Hosts Delegation from Kyoto University, Japan

The delegation from Kyoto University was led by Ken Miura, Associate Professor from the Graduate School of Agriculture. Representing HUAF were Assoc. Prof. Tran Thanh Duc, Rector of HUAF, together with representatives from the Office of Science, International Cooperation and Library Information; the Office of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs; the Faculty of Forestry; and related lecturers and researchers.

At the meeting, representatives from both universities provided an overview of their institutional development, organizational structure, and key academic strengths. HUAF introduced its training programs, research capacity, and ongoing initiatives in agriculture, forestry, and rural development, particularly those related to sustainable resource management and community-based development in Central Vietnam. Meanwhile, the Kyoto University delegation shared information about the university’s research programs, international cooperation activities, and its experience in interdisciplinary studies related to forestry, environmental conservation, and sustainable development.

The discussions focused on identifying potential areas for bilateral cooperation, including academic exchange programs for faculty members and students, joint scientific research projects, and collaborative training activities. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening international partnerships to enhance research quality, promote knowledge exchange, and contribute to addressing global and regional challenges related to natural resource management.
During this visit, Assoc. Prof. Ken Miura expressed particular interest in exploring collaborative research opportunities in the fields of sustainable forestry and forest management under FSC standards. The delegation also showed interest in learning about forestry production practices and forest management models in Hue City and surrounding areas. These practical insights may serve as a foundation for developing joint research projects and field-based studies in the future.
