Seminar to share activities and results of the FTviet project, the capacity building component in charge of HUAF

On June 7, 2023 the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University (HUAF) held a Seminar to share activities and results of the FTviet project, the capacity building component in charge of HUAF.
Attending the seminar, there were Prof. Dr. Christian Kull (University of Lausanne); On the HUAF side, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Thanh Duc – Rector and Leaders of functional departments.
On the side of the FTViet Project, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Nam Thang - coordinator of the capacity building part of the project at HUAF, and Dr. Ngo Tri Dung – Director of CORENARM, coordinator of the policy advocacy component.
The total funding supported by the FTViet Project is more than 4 billion VND to finance research fields related to the project's components, including: (1) Geographical information systems and remote sensing in management resources; (2) Research on forest vegetation; (3) Ecosystem services; (4) Research on invasive species (conifers); (5) Research on Dipterocarps; (6) Social–economic and livelihood–climate change research: large-scale data collection for trend analysis; (7) Assessment of training needs and capacity of stakeholders; (8) Other relevant research directions: processing, value chain, non-timber forest products, medicinal plants, development of livelihood models...
In the past 6 years, the project has sponsored full scholarships for 2 Ph.D. students at the Faculty of Forestry, 10 research grants for graduate students, 22 university-level research projects (16 projects of lecturers and 6 student group projects). The project has also sponsored activities related to sharing scientific information, training in data analysis and processing, writing reports, and publishing publications in specialized journals… From the funded research, 37 articles have been published/accepted, including 11 international articles and 27 domestic articles published in prestigious journals.
At the end of the Conference, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Thanh Duc presented souvenirs to Prof. Dr. Christian Kull and HUAF's thanks to the Swiss Academy of Sciences and the Swiss National Foundation for Scientific Research for supporting HUAF in capacity building for its staff and students. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Thanh Duc hopes that the two sides will continue to cooperate in research, application, training and publishing activities in the near future.
