The atmosphere in the opening ceremony

Attending the ceremony, on behalf of companies and enterprises in Thua Thien Hue province, there were representatives of Vietinbank, Vietcombank, VNPT and Viettel.

Other participants included leaders of Hue University: Assoc.Prof.Dr Huynh Van Chuong - Vice President of Hue University; Dr.Hoang Kim Toan - Head of Student Affairs Department of Hue University; Mr. Vu Thanh Huy - Secretary of Youth Union of Hue University; Representatives of the affiliated universities of Hue University.

Participants of HUAF were Assoc Prof. Dr. Le Van An – Rector of HUAF; leaders of departments, faculties, centers, institutes of HUAF; mentors; and over 1300 new students.

Currently, Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry has a training scale of 9,000 students, including 8,000 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students. The university has 8 faculties, 9 functional divisions, 01 research institute, 4 scientific research centers. The total land area of the university is nearly 80 hectares and has 4 centers for practice, study outside the university. The current staff is 450 people, including 300 lecturers. The quality of the teaching staff has been improved, including 36 professors, associate professors and nearly 100 doctors. Over 50 years of construction and development, HUAF has made great achievements in training, scientific research and production in the Central regions, Highlands and the whole country. The university provides with nearly 30,000 engineers, 1,500 masters and dozens of PhDs for the whole country. In addition, the university has achieved many results of scientific research in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fisheries, rural development, land and environmental management, engineering, and food processing that are transferred to companies, businesses, and localities throughout the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van An said: "During the academic year 2016-2017, all staff of the univiersity made efforts in successfully carrying out the suggested tasks. Specifically, the Job Fair Day (May 6, 2017) was held at the university, in which 1500 students of the university were recruited from 50 enterprises. Additionally, students had opportunities in going on internships and working on hi-tech agriculture in Israel. Annually, the percentage of students who get jobs immediately after their graduation in the first year is 86%. Most of them are in line with the trained profession. Therefore, the effect and quality in training of the university are affirmed in society".

Moreover, Assoc Prof. Dr. Le Van An emphasized: “New students will encounter many difficulties such as learning pressure, adaptation to new learning methods, and so on. Thus, they should try their best to achieve good results in learning. In addition, lecturers and staff of HUAF will create favorable conditions for new students to complete their studies”.

On behalf of Hue University, Assoc. Prof. Dr Huynh Van Chuong - Vice President of Hue University congratulated the success of HUAF on the construction and development during 50 years. Assoc. Prof. Dr Huynh Van Chuong hoped that HUAF would keep on innovating the university governance and improving the quality of training to gain the expected targets.  
On this occasion, the university awarded certificates of merit to freshmen who had received the highest marks in the last national exam. In addition, 9 scholarships awarded by Vietcombank for excellent students. At the same time, donors also provided poor students with valuable scholarships.
