Symposium on Production and use of biochar in the cultivation of some main crops in Thua Thien Hue

On August 23, 2022, HUAF held a symposium on "Production and use of biochar in the cultivation of some main crops in Thua Thien Hue". This is a component of a science and technology project at the Thua Thien Hue Provincial level led by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Minh Cuong.
On the side of provincial and district agencies, there was the attendance of Dr. Ho Thang – Director, and Ms. Hoang Viet Huong – Head of Scientific Management Office, Department of Science and Technology of Thua Thien Hue Province; Mr. Nguyen Van Tan - Head of Agriculture Department of Phu Vang district; Representative leaders of Agricultural Cooperatives Phu Thuan, Quang Tho 2, and Vinh Xuan and farmer households participating in the implementation of the project's models.
 
On the side of HUAF was the attendance of Prof. Dr. Tran Dang Hoa – Chairman of the University Council, Prof.Dr. Le Dinh Phung – Vice Rector, Representative of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, the Faculty of Agronomy, and the project team.

At the Symposium, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Minh Cuong - the project manager - briefly presented a number of implemented contents of the project, of which two important contents were the production of biochar from straw and rice husk and the application of biochar in cultivating some crops in Thua Thien Hue.

The results of the project were highly appreciated in terms of economy and environment, contributing to changing habits in traditional agricultural farming. Stakeholders expect the project team to continue implementing more training courses and deploying more similar models. The project team was planning to commercialize the project's products in the coming time.
